Badges of the 60s
In the sixties we won the League Cup in its first season 1961, beating Rotherham United in a two legged final home and away. Not all the football clubs in the four leagues entered. There were no badges made to my knowledge to celebrate this achievement. In 1963 we reached the Final again this time we lost to Small Heath Alliance in a two legged final. No badges were made for this game either. Any badges below that were sold at the Aston Villa club shops or the supporters club associations are shown as Club Shop, CShop or CP. SA or SC is for supporters club or association. In the season 1967-68 badge number four was on the front of every home programme. Also in the Football League Review which was included in most football clubs programmes at the time. An article called Collect Club Badges showed Aston Villas club badge as number five on this page which you could obtain by post, price 4/-. A lot of the old badges turn up in the old programmes so you can find out what age they are and how much they cost.Unfortunately in the last ten years people have bought the old badge dies from old companys ie Coffer that have gone to the wall and are churning some of the old badges out in all sorts of colours and charging extortionate amounts for repro badges.
